Our congratulations go to the Downey siblings, vocalist Aoife (17), and 14-year-old pianist Daire, who performed so impressively as finalists in the 2021 Northern Ireland Young Musician of the Year.

When Newry Musical Feis 2020 was launched on 14th February by Deputy Chair of Newry Mourne & Down District Council, Cllr.
We are delighted to hear that our regular performer Jack Reilly, Year 14 student in Kilkeel High School, and pupil of the EA Southern Music Service, has just learned that he has won a French Horn Scholarship to Guildhall School of Music.
Young organist Eoin Cassidy, winner of Class 8C in the 2019 Newry Musical Feis Organ Competitions, performed his prize-winner’s recital in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh on Sunday 9th February 2020.
Newry Musical Feis
Newry Musical Feis is a festival of Music, Dance and Speech, which takes place annually in Newry Town Hall and the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre. There are seven Sections scheduled within the period February to May. Professional adjudicators provide feedback of the highest standard to performers of all ages in Ballet & Theatre Dance, Irish Dance (Confined), Irish Dance (Open), Irish Traditional Music, Music, Speech & Drama (Open) and Speech & Drama (Schools).
Certificates, medals and trophies are awarded for exceptional performances. A number of Bursaries is offered each year. Specialist workshops and masterclasses are organised from time to time with content designed to address areas for development as identified by our adjudicators. The Feis is an affiliated member of the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech
