STOP PRESS! UNIQUE opportunity for young organists...
Newry Musical Feis is delighted to announce that a THIRD performance opportunity awaits the winner of the 2019 Organ Solo (Open) – Class 8.
David Stevens, Organist and Master of the Choristers in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, has generously offered a performance opportunity on St Anne’s 70 stop, 4 manual, Harrison organ.
It will take the form of a short (30 minute) recital preceding Choral Evensong on the third Sunday of the month, commencing at 3.00pm.
This performance opportunity will be in addition to the performance opportunities already kindly offered by St Peter’s Cathedral, Belfast (57 stop, 4 manual, Kenneth Jones) and St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh (53 stop, 3 manual, Walker/Wells-Kennedy)
The availability of three opportunities to perform publicly to musically cognisant audiences in high profile venues, as part of the cathedrals’ established public recital series, makes this a prize-winner’s package unique on the island of Ireland.
NB: the duration, format and date of the performance opportunities awarded are entirely at the discretion of the respective Directors of Music of the three cathedrals and beyond the control of Newry Musical Feis. It is the responsibility of the prize-winner, or of their adult representative, to arrange date, time, duration and format with the respective DoMs offering the performance opportunities.
